Terms of Use
Plain-language summary: Brace is a communication coaching tool. It gives you plans and practice for difficult conversations. It is not a substitute for professional advice. Use it as a preparation aid, not as a crisis resource.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using the Brace application ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms are governed by German law. The place of jurisdiction for any disputes is Germany, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
2. Description of Service
Brace is an AI-powered communication coaching application that helps users prepare for difficult interpersonal conversations. The App provides:
- Structured conversation plans based on user-provided context
- AI roleplay rehearsal simulating the other party in a conversation
- Written draft messages in multiple tones
Brace is not a medical, mental health, or therapeutic service. It does not provide professional advice of any kind. It is a preparation and practice tool.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Brace (consistent with the App Store rating of 16+). By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
4.1 Free Trial
Brace offers a 3-day free trial. The trial begins when you start it and ends automatically after 72 hours, unless you cancel before the trial period ends.
4.2 Paid Plans
After the trial, Brace is available as:
- Weekly: $6.99 / week, billed weekly
- Annual: $39.99 / year, billed annually
All billing is handled by Apple's App Store. Prices may vary by region based on Apple's pricing matrix. We have no access to your payment information.
4.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time via Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial periods, except where required by law.
4.4 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Apple will notify you of price changes before they take effect, and you will have the opportunity to cancel.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Brace to:
- Plan, facilitate, or encourage harassment, manipulation, coercion, or harm to any person
- Generate content designed to deceive, defraud, or exploit others
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits or subscription verification
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source code or AI prompts
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
6. AI-Generated Content
The conversation plans, rehearsal responses, and drafts generated by Brace are produced by large language models. This content:
- Is generated automatically and may not always be accurate, appropriate, or suitable for your specific situation
- Does not constitute professional legal, financial, psychological, or relationship advice
- Should be reviewed and adapted by you before use in a real conversation
- Is provided as a preparation aid only — you retain full responsibility for how you use it
We make no warranty that AI-generated plans will lead to any particular outcome in your conversations.
7. Intellectual Property
The Brace name, logo, design, and app code are the intellectual property of Marco Ehinger. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without prior written permission.
Content you generate using Brace (your plans, rehearsal transcripts) belongs to you. By submitting content to the App, you grant us a limited license to process and store it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Brace is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Marco Ehinger shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Brace.
Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Changes to the Service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
11. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Brace if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to other users or to the service.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the German courts, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country requires otherwise.
